Supernatural Superserious

Do we like the new R.E.M. single, do we think it sounds like bits of 'Bad Day' but not as good, or do we think it sounds like every other first-single-off-the-album from R.E.M. and that's what we've come to expect and as we FEAR CHANGE, that's fine by us?!!

I actually think it sounds a bit more like the REM of yore (i.e. IRS REM, which makes sense, what with Bad Day being an IRS era out-take, and the song that eventually morphed into End Of The World) and if the stuff I heard in Dublin is anything to go by, the rest of the album should put the dullness of Around The Sun out of our memories once and for all.

Kind of like it:

Lyrically ok, not stellar, Vocal track as music i quite like.

Bass guitar and drums are fine, if generic, but the bass is FAR to prominent in the mix

Main Problem is the middle tonal range is utterly utterly empty, the main guitar part is really low in the mix and worse still its dull, frankly the track needs a nice piano part or some such to fill the void between bass and vocal.

Overall C+..must do better

Can a get a critiquing cookie now please?
